Quote of the Week: Life as a Creative Act

Is being creative important to you?

I loved this quote I found while browsing online the other day. I get frustrated sometimes with my job or housework, because I think the work is menial and not important. But actually everything about our lives is important in some way. It helps to look at your life like a big story or a creative project, don’t you think?

“We are creating our lives every day and yet we don’t think of it as being ‘creative’ in the traditional sense. However, if you don’t look at your life as a creative act then you’re not going to view yourself as someone who needs to invent it in a really thoughtful and interesting way. I think it is extremely important that people believe they have the power to creatively reinvent the world and their lives.” -Stanford professor Tina Selig

What do you think?

  1. This quote is really inspiring me! I think I’m going to write “Life is a creative act” on one of my walls. Thanks for sharing!

  2. “… they have the power to creatively reinvent the world and their lives.” — I was just talking about this idea on a walk last night with a friend. Tracing the dark lake’s edge, we strolled, laughed, and philosophized. One of the ideas what just that: we have the power to change our lives, to choose our actions. It’s powerful, isn’t it?

P.S. Does choosing to go look for an oreo count though? 😉
