“People don’t like that Putin can wave his finger and everyone will listen to him without thinking. I don’t know who is responsible for this fact that one man runs everything in this country — maybe he is partially guilty — but I think that in reality everyone is responsible for it, including me.” -Chulpan Khamatova
I found this week’s quote in a Moscow Times article. It’s a question I’m constantly asking – who’s responsible for what happens in a country – people or politicians? Do politics come from society? Or does society come from politics?? What do you think?
Chulpan Khamatova, by the way, is a famous Russian actress who has gotten very involved in Russian volunteerism. There’s been controversy about her lately after she appeared in a commercial supporting Putin during the elections. The article is great. I’d definitely recommend reading it.
