Who doesn’t want to be slim and in shape?? Seriously, do you know anyone?
My coworker and I were talking the other day about how hard it is for us to stay in shape. We spend the majority of our time at our desks, there is an abundance of free pastries and sweets floating around the newsroom, and with the cold weather we’re finding it hard to get out of our apartments, or even just get out from under our piles of blanket on our cozy couches!
Then, however, she very wisely said, that the secret (to staying slim) is to treat yourself.
You have to treat yourself.
Cuts of pineapple, fresh asparagus, yummy salads with delicious balsamic vinaigrette, slow stretches in the morning with music, and perhaps a weekly yoga or pilates class.
I think she’s so right! It’s really hard for me to diet, and I hate running outside here in Moscow where you get chased by dogs, breathe in car exhaust, and this time of year literally risk breaking your neck with of all the ice.
Giving myself little treats, however, is something I really enjoy doing – buying a bunch of fresh rucola to savor, sipping an exotic fruit-flavored rooibos tea, and doing a fun exercise routine that I look forward to.
Recently I read a blog post where the writer shared her strategy for losing weight by treating herself. She had little strategies like only letting herself watch a certain favorite TV show when she was exercising, or staving after-dinner sugar craves with a store of tiny low calorie dark chocolate bars…
I also really liked the book “French Women Don’t Get Fat”, which talked a lot about savoring food, fashion, and joie de vivre.
What do you think? Do you have any strategies? Advice? Favorite work out videos?
P.S. any thoughts on the dessert for breakfast diet
